31 Tracks in 29 Days: Reyshizz’s Hip-hop Tribute
For 29 days I wrote and recorded 31 tracks to pay homage to Hip-hop. Each track features an instrumental from a year of Hip-hop’s existence. I started counting from 1979 with the Sugar Hill Gang’s “Rappers Delight” then I moved on to 1980, 1981, and so on, until I reached 2009. This is my tribute to Hip-hop.
I call this tribute a Hip-hop Boot-camp as well because each track was written and recorded each day, one day after the other. All my other activities (hanging out, socializing, etc…) were on pause until I was done with all 31 tracks. It was supposed to last 31 days but during the final week, but I had to go on a business trip and would not have access to a studio to record. So I doubled up on two days and wrote and recorded two tracks on those days.
Why did I do this?
There were several reasons but the most important ones were
- To challenge myself to see if I could come up with a song in a short period of time
- Put all of my attention to creating music
- Pay tribute Hip-hop
When will the music be released?
Over the next 31 days I will release a track a day for your listening pleasure. Please be as harsh as possible with any criticisms so that it may motivate me to do better as I continue.
If you want try this too… below is the track listing. I will also post the instrumental as I post the music so you don’t have to go digging for it like I did.

I’ve been rhyming since I was 11
and will continue to rhyme until I die. My music is music for the mind, music for the heart, and music for the soul. It’s music for me. It’s therapy, it’s self realization, it’s being able to step outside ...
