Reyshizz is Going Back to School

Written by: reyshizz

I am going back to school. Well, sort of. Recently I’ve been feeling like my day to day has been a load of unorganized events and I’m just going with it… I go with whatever flows my way without asking too many questions or resisting. Reading stuff like the Tao Te Ching led me to believe this is how one should live.

Now I think

Reyshizz on Relationships (Part 2)

Written by: reyshizz

Blah blah blah. I do that often. I mean, I have opinions and arguments that I like to share with others when a topic of interest arises. Whenever I do share my opinion with another human being it is thoroughly argued and dissected, so I have to be prepared with arguments that are (pretty) well rehearsed. One of those opinions that is scripted in my head is my view on relationships. Over the past year I’ve maintained a radically different perspective on relationships that always gets me in trouble when I talk about it – both online and off. The bases of my argument is that the traditional relationship model is grossly outdated and needs to be changed to accommodate the way we live today. Once again I will go

Putting a Mixtape Together: The Music

Written by: reyshizz

Step 1 – Concept & Create Music

Back in March 2010, I decided to do a Hip-hop Tribute. The idea was simple: write and record a track a day AND, on top of that, I would use instrumentals of tracks that were made from 1979 to 2009. The plan was 31 tracks in 31 days. Due to a minor hiccup, it ended up being 31 Tracks in 29 days. I’m just glad to say that I pulled it off.

Step 2 – Review and Critique

Successful ’09 (Track 31 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

I can’t deny that Drake took the rap game by storm when he came out with his mixtape So Far Gone. One of my favorite songs on that mixtape was Successful featuring Trey Songs. I figures this track would be great to cap off my Hip-hop Tribute.

Queens Get the Money ’08 (Track 30 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

Nas didn’t get much notoriety for his last album besides the fact that he wanted to call it “Nigger” (which he didn’t). Nonetheless it still was a hot album. The intro track Queens Get The Money sets the tone nicely for the rest of the tracks on the album. I think it fits well in my Hip-hop Tribute.

On my version of this song I get a bit slef reflective again. Taking a look inside and this is what came out.

International Players Anthem ’07 (Track 29 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

I remember when the track International Players Anthem by UGK and Andre 3000 came out. I was in Atlanta and it was the hottest thing out. I actually did another song to this beat but it’s so hot I figured I’ll revisit it for my Hip-hop Tribute.

Kick Push ’06 (Track 28 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

Kick push was Lupe Fiasco’s first song with commercial success. The first time I heard it I became an instant fan. The beat is very majestic so my flow on this track is as such. Check it out.
