Best Rapper Alive ’05 (Track 27 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

I have to give props to Lil’ Wayne on my Hip-hop Tribute. He made a bold statement with the song Best Rapper Alive, making a claim to the thrown of rap. Since then he been consistently banging out hits. I take this track and do something a little creative with it. Let me know if y’all catch it.

Jesus Walks ’04 (Track 26 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

Kanye West definitely changed the game with track Jesus Walks. It was the first (that I know of) widely accepted gospel rap song (yes gospel rap). When I got a hold of the beat for my Hip-hop Tribute I did my own version of rap gospel. Check it out.

Lucifer ’03 (Track 25 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

The next instrumental track I use on my Hip-hop Tribute is Jay-z’s Lucifer. The beat on this track is sick. When it came out in ’03 it was one of my favorite tracks on the Black Album. I had a lot of fun writing and recording this track. Take a listen.

Wanksta ’02 (Track 24 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

The next track I use on my Hip-hop Tribute is 50 Cent’s Wanksta. When this track came out it was hot to death. This was probably the first 50 Cent track that had commercial success. 50 Cent was known for taking other people’s tracks and adding his flavor to it. I figure why not do the same to one of his tracks. Enjoy.

Take Over ’01 (Track 23 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

The next track I rhyme over in my Hip-hop Tribute is Jay-z’s Takeover. The original track is historic because it was a response to Nas and other rappers who were beefing with Jay at the time. In my version, I switch it up a little to have some fun with it. Check it out.

Stan ’00 (Track 22 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

All I could say about the song Stan by Eminem is WOW. It was dope when it came out and it’s still dope now. I took cue from the original when I recorded my version for the Hip-hop Tribute. In it I write letters to Jay and Em… I wonder if they’ll write back… :)

Xplosive ’99 (Track 21 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

This next track needs no introduction, but I’ll do it anyway. Xplosive was on Dr. Dre’s Chronic 2001 and was easily one of the dopest tracks on that amzing album. So I definitely had to do a verse on it for my Hip-hop Tribute. I had a lot of fun with this one. Take a listen and let me know what think.

Ruff Ryders Anthem ’98 (Track 20 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

The next track in my Hip-hop Tribute is the anthem of anthems, DMX’s Ruff Ryders Anthem. When this came out everyone and their mama wanted to be a Ruff Ryder… The shit was tight. In my verse on it I bring back some of that DMX flavor that originally got him famous. Check it out.

Hail Mary ’97 (Track 19 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

RIP Tupac Shakur. In my last track I Gave You Power I got a bit deep, but compared to Hail Mary I was only scratching the surface. On this track in my Hip-hop Tribute I let out most of what I think about religion and beleifs and all that. I hope I offended people on this track so we can get the discussion going… Holla at me!

I Gave You Power ’96 (Track 18 of 31HHT)

Written by: reyshizz

My favorite Nas album is It was Written and my favorite track on that album is I Gave You Power. So the 1996 track on my Hip-hop Tribute was an obvious selection.

Nas tells a story in the original song, but in my version I get a little deep, maybe go over the heads of some people. Check it out and let me know what you think.
