Reyshizz Performs “Free Bagels” [Video]
There was a talent show a couple of weeks ago at my full time gig and of course I HAD to grace them with my presence. Knowing that my job is very diverse I had to do a song that most (or all) of the audience can relate to. So I did a song about my job, in particularly, Bagel Friday. Every Friday the company provides its employees with free bagels. I figured why not rap about that and so I did

Reyshizz Performance at Marlos and NJIT [Video]
“Paper chasing, politicing, loving my live till i’m evicted!” UH! If you weren’t there you missed it… If you were there thanks for coming out. This was my very first live performance and I think I did aight. I actually did two shows last night (both shown below). The first I did at NJIT. It was kinda of a warm up to hit the stage at Marlos.
A couple of days ago I said I wasn’t nervous. Shit that all that changed when I was being announced. My blood was boiling my heart was racing, I couldn’t control my breathing… shit… I was NERVOUS AS HELL! But I swallowed it and kept the show rolling.
I would have to say that Marlos was my better performance. The sound was better and the audience was into it more. As far as criticisms goes, the judges liked it for the most part. But one of the judges said that I didn’t “look” the part of a hip hop star. I’m like shit… if that’s the worst of it… i’m good. I’m taking donations if cats want to sponsor my wardrobe. Just send the $$ to reyshizz@gmail.com via PayPal and I’ll take care of that right away. LOL…
All in all I had fun… I enjoyed myself… and I did my thing…

The Making of “In Another World” [Video]
This is a behind the scenes look at how I make music, from beginning to middle (it’s not done yet). Most people won’t let you see how their “magic” gets created. I don’t really care, I’ll let the world see. BUT there’s a catch… the video above is for my fans, sort of… My fans get to see it first. Some people have been riding with me since day 0 and I want to show them I appreciate it. If you want be included in that list, join my fan page on facebook or google group.
On July 19th 2009, (today) at 8pm (est) I will send an email to my fans giving them the password to these videos. If you join after that time and miss the email, just send me an email at rey@reyshizz.com and I will personally reply with the password
Enjoy!

reyshizz Makes a Beat on the iPhone with Fingerbeat [Video]
My cousin introduced me to an iPhone app called Fingerbeat. It’s a pretty impressive app and easy to use. Above is me messing around with it making a kinda usable beat. I have a verse to it but I’m internally debating whether or not to post it, we’ll see what I decide. Below is the fingerbeat demo.
The Way I Am (Eminem) Freestyle for Vibe Verses
Background:
So last week I found out about the Vibe Verses contest. It’s a competition, held by Vibe Magazine, for the best verse rhyming to the Eminem track The Way I Am.
The Set Up
Before I even thought about entering, I went to the site to scope out the competition. To my surprise most of those jokers who had already posted videos were straight garbage. I immediately thought that I’d be a shoe in to win, or at least advance to the second round.
The Preparation
I worked through the weekend, wrote a verse and had my video uploaded by Monday (4/20). Once the video was up I advertised it on my Facebook Group I Like Videos by Reyshizz, my Facebook status and on YouTube. After all that was done I had nothing to do but wait.
The Revelation
I checked the video after a couple of hours and saw that I had 11 votes averaging to 2 out of 5 stars. My reaction was “What The F?” I know none of my fans would rate me so low (then they wouldn’t be fans). I decided to do a bit of investigating and it turns out that you can only vote if you’re a member of the site, which means you have register first. All that is too much work. I don’t blame anyone for not doing it. It seems that the only people that were voting are the folks with their own video(s). That is a major conflict of interest. How can you honestly rate someone else’s work when your work is competing for the same spot? What you’ll get is a site full of salty rappers putting each others work down so the can be on top (crabs in a barrel). If I wasn’t so busy I’d be doing it too (sad but true).
Hope Is Not Lost
All Hope for man kind is not lost. I actually gained from this experience. Now I know approximately how ling it takes me to make a verse memorize it and record. I also didnt know what beat I wanted to work with. The Way I Am is a classic and a challenge. And lastly it was fun… I hope you all enjoy.

reyshizz In Maryland pt 2
Background:
This past weekend I was in Maryland visiting my gf, as I normally do. When it was time for me to come back up north (Sunday 3/15/09), my car wouldn’t start. So, I stayed an extra day and a half while my car got repaired. During that time I decided to make some use of it and give you guys a preview of some new tracks I’m working on…

I’ve been rhyming since I was 11
and will continue to rhyme until I die. My music is music for the mind, music for the heart, and music for the soul. It’s music for me. It’s therapy, it’s self realization, it’s being able to step outside ...
