Indie Music and Social Networking Sites

Written by: reyshizz

In preparation of the release of Reyshizz Reloaded, I had to work hard to make sure that it did not go un-noticed. Several months before I even released a song, I told as much people as possible that it was coming out and when to expect it. The easiest way that a I am able to keep up with everyone in my fan base is by using social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and YouTube.

I mostly use Facebook because of its ease of use and the size of my friends list. I have a personal Facebook account, fan page, and a group. My Facebook status is pivotal in letting all my friends know whats going on with me and my music on a day-to-day basic. I put videos on my fan page and message my group with updates whenever there is something to update them with.

I have a MySpace account but I must admit, I’ve been neglecting it lately. Most of my attention has been around Facebook. MySpace is better for networking with like minded indie artist. But I have yet to find anybody’s mind quite like mine ;-) .

I just started using Twitter, and I think it’s pretty useful for daily updates to my fan and/or followers. I try to update it everyday, if not, every other day.

I put my videos on Youtube and Revver. I use Youtube for the wider audience and ability to embed mostly anywhere on the net and Revver for the potential to make money. I have recently started to put previews of my videos of Youtube and the full version on Revver. This is to drive more people to watch the videos on my website.

Lastly, I have a Google Groups account. I use this like my Facebook group, giving my fan updates on releases or new music that I have out.

And that’s my Social Networking set up, feel free to add me!
