10 Things That Love Isn’t

June 9th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Once upon a time I spoke about what love is with a couple of my friends. I feel that my definition would be better appreciated if I explained what love isn’t. Here it goes…

  • Love isn’t a reason to be miserable for the rest of your life
  • Love isn’t a reason to be beaten physically, emotionally, or spiritual
  • It isn’t a reason to stay in a horrible relationship
  • It isn’t something you have to prove
  • It isn’t something that HAS to be said
  • It isn’t the be all end all of what life is about
  • It isn’t a liability
  • It doesn’t mean you have to compromise your good judgment
  • It doesn’t mean you have to give up your freedoms
  • Love does not solve all problem…

Please let me know if you disagree.

Oh, before I forget, please comment. I'd like to know your thoughts.

love is what most people live for..it is what life is about…you have to have love for your family..for your close friends..the love and will to do and be good..and most importantly..Love for God and His son…so i must say i disagree with you on that…but all of the rest is cool…lol

Yeah.. You can LOVE aperosn because we are all to love everyone even our enemies HOWEVER, you do NOT need to be IN LOVE with a person.

But everything you said make sense and hopefully people realize that as well. :-)

I think you make some good points…a lot of people think being in love has to be painful. I think when you’re in love with someone, it should feel like being in the sun. All the time (not to say that there wouldn’t be ups and downs, but still, it should be more like the sun went behind a cloud than a thunderstorm…)

A lot of things that you mention fall under the idea of using love as an excuse…and I think people do that all too often as well. If you love someone, you just love them. There aren’t conditions or requirements…you accept their good traits and their flaws the same. I just think that very few people know what love REALLY is. Bottom line.
