Maybe Having a Job isn’t so Bad

November 13th, 2007 · No Comments

Today I asked myself why do I hate having a job so much. I mean, i get a good amount of money, doing relatively simple work. All I have to do is trade a few set amount of hours of my life in exchange for this money. Shit, right now, as an intern, I’m making more than my father ever made in any of his jobs and I’m doing less work. So I guess he did a good job, raising a good soldier on the front lines. But instead of serving America, I’m signing my life away to Corporate America along with millions of other citizens to gain all the benefits involved. Like getting a week off for every year I work AND after 40 or so years, I don’t have to work any more because they’ll take care of me an my family with my 401K. And I know I could trust Corporate America to keep their word, they’re as reliable as the Government and George Bush would never steer us in the wrong direction.

Pretty soon I’ll be graduating from grad school and probably enter a higher tax bracket, making more money. I’m happy I have the folks of Corporate America telling me how much I’m worth. otherwise I’d have to figure it out on my own.

I don’t know what I was thinking, wanting to be independent from the system. Using my brain is just was one of those things that wasn’t covered in the schools that I’ve been to and it’ll be too hard to learn now. I’ll just let the government, corporate America, marketers, rappers and BET think for me .

No worry folks I’m better now. No more need to ask, “What are you going to do if you don’t have a job?” We could carpool now

Oh, before I forget, please comment. I'd like to know your thoughts.
