The Church of Scientology Gets Sued

September 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Would you sue your religious leader or church if you found out that you were being intentionality misled for a profit? Shit… if I have supporting evidence, I would. In France, a women sued the Church of Scientology for organized fraud. This article made me wonder, what are the beliefs of Scientology?

I don’t follow any religion and I have my reasons, but I wanted to learn more about Scientology. So I did what any person would do, in this day and age, I looked it up on Wikipedia. At first it seem like it followed the mantra of all other religions, you know, do good, be good, feel good. But as I continued to read what they believe, it became more interesting….

Among these advanced teachings, one episode revealed to those who reach OT level III is the story of Xenu (sometimes Xemu), introduced as an alien ruler of the “Galactic Confederacy.” According to this story, 75 million years ago Xenu brought billions of people to Earth in spacecraft resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together, stuck to the bodies of the living and continue to do this today. Hubbard called these clustered spirits “Body Thetans,” and advanced-level Scientologists place considerable emphasis on isolating these alien souls and neutralizing their ill effects.

I had to read that a couple of time to make sure I wasn’t mistaken. Then I recalled a South Park episode which was being satirical of this religion. They actually had a reenactment of the above beliefs. Shown below:

Now there is no way that I can disprove the story of Xenu and the Galactic Confederacy nor will I try to. Being the open minded individual that I believe myself to be, I won’t make any judgments on their beliefs. I just found it interesting and thought I would share my newly discovered fact.

Oh, before I forget, please comment. I'd like to know your thoughts.
