As I was driving home from school one day this thought came into my mind. Why is prostitution illegal? I don’t get it. If a person decides to sell their goodies, why not let them? They’re not hurting anybody, in fact they’re helping someone get something out of their system. Prostitutes are like street nurses, they take care of you, and then they send you home. Imagine if we took away all the prostitutes in the world. Do you know how much more violence there would be? If a guy isn’t getting any and can’t even pay to get some, you know something bad is going to happen. Prostitutes are necessary.
What about porn??? Why isn’t that illegal??? It’s the same thing; people getting paid to have sex. The only difference is the work that porn stars do makes a difference for more than one person. They reach out to thousands (maybe millions).
The ONLY reason I could see for prostitution being illegal is that you can’t tax it. The government can’t make money off of it. Imagine if a street nurse charged $50 + tax for a blow job. They probably wouldn’t get much business. If they do, they have to carry change and all that. It just wouldn’t work. And the government can’t take inventory of how many tricks they bagged, hence the reason it can’t be tax. So, I think that once “they” realized you can’t tax prostitutes, they made it illegal. Damn government!
Disclaimer: I’m not saying prostitutes are role models of any sort. I’m just saying if someone feels that the only thing that they can do to get money is use what was given to them, why not let them?
Oh, before I forget, please comment. I'd like to know your thoughts.

It’s illegal because of this nation’s puritan roots.
I agree - Victimless crimes should be decriminalized…maybe not fully legal. The same for drug use and sells. But let me also clarify that child and coereced prostitution and drug use is BAD. That should be illegal - not because drug use or sex is inherently bad, but because it is important to protect the virtue of minors (and others who cannot fully advocate for themselves). It’s worth a dialogue.
